Profile

Ruth Kavithe Muasya is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Partner at Nelson Nkari & Company Advocates, with conveyancing and real property as her principal area of practice. She joined the partnership in October 2024 and also leads work in family, company and commercial matters. Her work ranges from business agreements and property transactions to the personal decisions involved in estate planning and succession, with direct involvement in matters from the first instruction through to completion.

Ruth advises on contract drafting, review and negotiation, company registration and corporate compliance. Her earlier practice at Muriithi Muthomi Associates Chambers included commercial negotiations, court representation and supervision of junior associates. That experience supports a careful approach to documentation, deadlines and the practical steps needed to complete a transaction.

Conveyancing and real property

Ruth guides clients through the acquisition, disposal and financing of real property, with close attention to title, transaction documents and the steps required for registration. She has handled transfers, leases, charges and discharges, as well as transmissions of property through succession, using physical land registries and the Ardhisasa platform. Each transaction needs careful follow-through. She helps clients understand their obligations, coordinates the documentation and registration process, and considers how a property transaction fits their wider commercial or personal plans.

Technology, privacy and intellectual property

Within the technology-law practice, Ruth advises on e-commerce, software development and licensing, data-processing agreements and emerging technology matters, including AI. Her intellectual property work covers copyright and trademarks, industrial designs, patents and utility models. She helps clients connect the rights they need to protect with the agreements and compliance measures required to use them commercially.

She advises on data protection compliance and policy drafting, together with incident-response planning and the responsibilities of organisations adopting digital systems.

Family, succession and private client work

Ruth assists clients with wills, estate planning and the administration of estates, including applications for probate, letters of administration, limited grants and revocation of grants. She also handles family matters and mediation processes. Her approach gives clients room to explain their circumstances, while keeping the advice focused on the documents, choices and next steps their matter requires.

Qualifications and legal writing

Ruth holds a Bachelor of Laws from Riara University, where she graduated in 2021 with Second Class Honours, Upper Division, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She was admitted to the Kenyan Bar in November 2023.

She co-authored a legal review on public-private partnerships in Kenya for the Riara University Law Review 2022, examining procurement issues and the judicial response to them. Her legal research and writing continue to support her advisory and dispute-resolution work.
