Nelson Matendo Nkari is a dual-qualified Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and software engineer whose work sits at the intersection of law, technology, and policy. As the Managing Partner of Nelson Nkari & Company Advocates, he leads a forward-looking, tech-enabled legal practice that provides legal and advisory services on digital transformation, technology law, emerging technologies law, and cross-border regulatory compliance. With over six years of experience in software development and more than three years of legal practice, Nelson’s ability to speak the same language as software engineers, product managers, and tech executives allows him to bridge the gap between law and technology, enabling him to guide organizations as they navigate the complex and rapidly evolving digital-legal landscape.
Nelson has played a pivotal role in driving legal innovation within the public sector. He served as an Embedded Consultant with the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), where he worked closely with the Kenya Judiciary and the Kenya Judiciary Academy to support the nationwide rollout of the Electronic Case Management and E-Filing System. In addition to his contributions to justice sector reform, Nelson has been actively involved in shaping national technology policy. He collaborated with the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy (MoICDE) and other stakeholders in the development of the Kenya National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2025.
Nelson is also a member of the Lexing® Network, the first international network of lawyers specialised in digital and emerging technologies law, which connects him to a global community of experts across over 45 countries and reinforces his ability to offer cross-border, future-facing legal solutions.
Ruth is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with a passion for technology law. She holds a Bachelors Degree in law and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Her areas of practice are Intellectual Property Law, Technology Law, Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Data Protection Law and Consumer Protection Law.
She advices individual and corporate clients on matters relating to data handling, intellectual property matters, authorised cyber activities, consumer protection and so much more. She represents clients in e-commerce transactions. She provides her legal services to clients for the registration, licensing and maintenance of their intellectual property.
